Camberley is about twenty minutes from us and sits within Surrey Heath. The housing is mixed: Victorian and Edwardian property near the centre, a large amount of post-war and mid-century estate housing, and newer development around the edges.
It also has a substantial private rented sector, and that shapes a good part of what we do there. Under the 2020 regulations every privately rented home needs an electrical safety certificate at least every five years, and a lot of Camberley landlords are now into their first renewal cycle.
On the mid-century stock, an inspection frequently returns the same handful of findings — no RCD protection, bonding that does not meet current requirements, and circuits that have been extended over the years. None of it is dramatic, and most of it is fixed with a new board and some bonding work rather than a rewire.
