Ascot's housing is unusually mixed for one postcode. There are substantial detached houses on the roads around the racecourse and towards Sunninghill, a lot of them extended more than once, where the electrical installation has been added to over decades rather than planned. There is also a good deal of newer development, and flats and conversions closer to the station.
That mix matters, because it changes what we find. On the larger properties it is very often multiple consumer units, outbuildings on their own supplies, and extensions wired at different times to different standards. On the newer stock it is more often additions — EV chargers, garden offices, kitchen work — on installations that are basically sound.
